Health & Safety

The UM Housing staff continues to work closely with the University of Montana, city, county, and state officials to review all aspects of our operations and make health and safety adjustments as necessary. Please be aware of the following move-in expectations:

  • Anyone exhibiting COVID-19 symptom(s) should not come to campus and should consult their health care provider. You can read about screening and other resources on the University of Montana’s COVID-19 website..
  • Masks/Face Coverings (Updated 9/20/21) - The University of Montana is continuing to monitor the realities of the pandemic and have mitigation strategies to mitigate the spread of SARS-CoV-2, including the more contagious Delta variant. Unfortunately, we have seen a significant uptick in COVID-19 cases in Missoula County over the past few weeks, placing us in a “high risk” category as defined by the CDC. In light of recent MCCHD news regarding COVID-19 cases, as well as the strain COVID-19 is causing in our local hospitals and throughout the greater medical community, UM will temporarily expand our mask requirement to indoor spaces on campus, including indoor common spaces in the residential facilities. This includes lobbies, lounges, community centers, laundry rooms/wash houses, hallways, and bathrooms. The mask requirement applies to public spaces (both public facing and open areas). It does not include residence hall rooms and apartments.
