EPIC Pitch Competition
The University of Montana EPIC Pitch Competition is run by the College of Business and the Blackstone LaunchPad. The competition is open to all students of the University of Montana including Missoula College, regardless of year or major. The EPIC Pitch Competition will culminate in a live pitch event from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on November 1st, 2018.
Submissions are due October 27, 2018 at 11:55 pm.
The pitch competition will offer $2,500 in prize money as follows:
- Overall winner: $1,500
- Most exciting Startup idea: $500
- Most compelling live presentation: $500
The goal of the competition is to encourage innovative and creative thinking as well as prepare you for the larger Spring competition. This is an opportunity for you and your team to present exciting ideas for new businesses or social entrepreneurship ventures and we offer several pitch-supporting events along the way.
All ideas are welcome!
Teams with members from more than one college or school are highly encouraged and can have between 1 and 5 members.
The competition is NOT a business plan competition. We are not looking for detailed business plans or ideas that have been fully developed and tested, although we certainly encourage you to research and explore your ideas as much as possible in the time available. Criteria can be found on the Submission Guidelines page.
All ideas pitched in the competition will be encouraged to proceed on to the 30th Annual John Ruffatto Business Startup Challenge taking place in Spring 2019. Last year’s competition awarded over $50,000 in prize money. The team that wins the EPIC Pitch Competition will receive guaranteed entry into the Spring Competition.
To get ahead on your submission, Sign up for our JRBSC/EPIC Pitch e-mail list.
Teams competing in the Spring competition will be provided with coaching support throughout the Spring semester to help them further develop and validate their ideas. Coaches will be experienced entrepreneurs and business professionals provided by the Blackstone LaunchPad at the University of Montana.
Remember, we have several opportunities for you to refine your pitch listed on the Ongoing Support and Events page.
