Students on spring break energy field trip

Energy Field Trip Provides Alternative Spring Break

Over spring break a group of UM School of Law students accompanied by Interim Dean Greg Munro took a 1,400-mile, five-day bus tour across Montana to see firsthand the various forms of energy development in the state. The Energy Facilities Field Trip is a course designed to provide law students an on-the-ground experience of the energy developments about which they study. At each energy location and during transit on the bus, lawyers who specialize in each form of energy instructed the students in the laws that govern the permitting, development, siting and operation of facilities involved.

Mike Pasque, a 2L student at the UM School of Law, blogged the entire trip across Montana.

The Montana Supreme Court made their annual visit to campus Friday April 10, 2015 to hear DA 14-0260, DOR v. Priceline. The question before the Montana Supreme Court is whether Montana travel taxes properly apply to the activities of online travel companies like Priceline.com. The case was introduced by Professor Pippa Browde who teaches tax law at the UM School of Law.

The Missoulian posted a short summary of the case on their website.
