Hon. Harry Haines Receives Distinguished Service Award
The Hon. Harry Haines '64 was presented with the Distinguished Service Award by Dean Paul Kirgis and Associate Dean of Students Elaine Gagliardi at the 63rd Annual Montana Tax Institute. Judge Haines was honored for his service to the School of Law, the state of Montana and the nation.

Amy Eddy ’01 Appointed District Judge
On October 22, 2015, Governor Steve Bullock announced the appointment of Amy Eddy ’01 to the position of district judge for Montana’s Eleventh Judicial District Court. Eddy has been in private practice in Kalispell and is a current member of the Board of Visitors of the Blewett School of Law. She received her undergraduate degree from California Polytechnic State University ("Cal Poly") and her juris doctorate from UM in 2001.

Blewett School of Law to Host Regional Rounds of National Moot Court Competition
On Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21, 2015, the Blewett School of Law will host the Northwest regional rounds of the National Moot Court Competition. The competition is the oldest and largest moot court competition in the country, with more than 120 law schools participating nationally. The Northwest regional competition will feature teams from law schools in Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon. The competition involves briefing and arguing a case, generally concerning statutory or constitutional issues, in the United States Supreme Court. The Blewett School of Law’s teams are coached by Associate Dean Andrew King-Ries and Professor Larry Howell. The top two teams from each of the country’s 15 regional rounds will advance to the week-long final rounds of the National Competition, held in February at the New York City Bar Association, which co-sponsors the competition with the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Mills to Present at National Indian Law Conference
Professor Monte Mills will present on two panels at the upcoming 12th Annual Indian Law Conference at the Michigan State University College of Law. The conference, entitled “Aandaakonige: From the Trilogy to TICA,” will take place November 5-6 2015 and will mark the first conference gathering of the Tribal In-house Counsel Association (TICA); a national network of attorneys working for Indian tribes.
Professor Mills joined the faculty in 2015 after serving as the Director of the Legal Department for the Southern Ute Tribe in Colorado.

Students View Conservation Efforts in the Blackfoot Valley
A group of UM students had the opportunity to see first-hand, community-based conservation in the Blackfoot Valley, meeting with representatives from the Blackfoot Challenge and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
