A New Year Begins at the Clark Fork Valley Superfund Site
Members of the entering class of 2020 visited the Berkeley Pit on Butte, Montana’s "Richest Hill on Earth," the first stop of the inaugural Clark Fork Valley Superfund Site Field Trip. Students began their legal education with a journey through Native American, environmental, agricultural, historical, and political perspectives on the legal issues arising from the Clark Fork of the Columbia River. Once polluted by more than a century of mining at its headwaters, the river runs past the School of Law and is now a student favorite for fishing and floating.

Students Study Comparative Law in China
The Max S. Baucus Institute at the Alexander Blewett III School of Law ran its successful China Comparative Law Study Abroad Program again this summer, with 19 U.S. law students joining Chinese law students to study comparative environmental, renewable energy, family, and international business law at partner universities in Chongqing and Beijing, China. All courses were co-taught by one U.S. and one Chinese law professor. Professors Michelle Bryan and Sam Panarella, Director of the Baucus Institute, co-directed the program.
Among many educational and cultural highlights from the month-long program were a field trip to Xishan Forest Park to study China's evolving approach to forest management in an increasingly arid region of the world and a visit to the China Court Museum to learn about the history of China's judicial system, including the most recent environmental provisions signed into law by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Students Author 'Facing battlefield at home' Article
Blewett School of Law students Spencer Bradford, Luke Laughlin, and Qasim Abdul-baki authored 'Facing battlefield at home: Is Veterans Treatment Court right for your client?' which appeared in the August 2017 Montana Lawyer Magazine. This is the first of several articles that will be published in the Montana Lawyer in the coming months written by students who were part of Professor Hillary Wandler’s four-day veterans law course.

Law Alumni Reunion Weekend Planning is Underway
Law Alumni Reunion Weekend is October 13 - 14, 2017. This year's featured classes are 7s and 2s! Activities include class dinners organized by class members, the PLRLR biennial conference, the School of Law tailgate, and GRIZ football.
