Baucus Leaders

Baucus Leaders in Washington, D.C.The Baucus Institute provides opportunities for students to see the world through service, and that experience inspires them to become leaders in Montana and throughout the world.

Our programs are for undergraduate and graduate students attending Montana-based universities, tribal colleges, and community colleges. 

We offer three distinct leadership programs:

Baucus Leaders DC

Each summer, we place undergraduate and graduate students as interns in Congressional offices and committees in Washington, D.C. to experience politics and the legislative process first-hand.

Baucus Climate Scholars

Every summer we place undergraduate and graduate students with organizations working at the forefront of climate and environment issues.

Baucus Leaders Montana

Every summer we place undergraduate and graduate students with Montana-based governmental and nonprofit offices for project-based learning experiences. This local version of the Baucus Leaders program is for students interested in public service and nonprofit leadership. (Note: for 2023 this program is limited to University of Montana students, but we envision opening it across Montana in future years.)
