Personal Summary

A shareholder in the Missoula law firm Worden Thane P.C., Martin King has been a practicing lawyer in Montana for over 28 years.  Born in Portland, Oregon, Martin received his bachelors degree from the University of Oregon in 1980. Martin became a member of the Montana State Bar in 1984 after receiving his J.D. from the Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon. Martin joined Worden Thane as an associate in 1984 and became a shareholder in the firm in 1992.

Martin often represents banks and financial institutions in complex commercial transactions, in foreclosures, and in litigated matters including bankruptcy. His practice also includes business and general civil litigation, collections, and real estate transactions and litigation. Martin has tried a variety of cases in state and federal district courts, including bankruptcy court, and has presented numerous appeals to the Montana Supreme Court.

Martin was selected for inclusion in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of banking and finance law, bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights / insolvency and reorganization law, bet-the-company litigation, commercial litigation, banking and finance, litigation - real estate, and real estate law.

Since 2008 Martin has been an adjunct professor of law at the University of Montana School of Law teaching secured transactions, commercial paper and sales.

When not engaged in professional or civic activities, or spending time with his family, Martin can be found biking and skiing in the mountains and valleys of western Montana.
