Steven Garnier was born in Normandy, France. He grew up in an area overflowing with history. From the Vikings to World War II, he always loved to study history. Steven is specifically from the well-known island of Mont Saint Michel. He has been a French Instructor since 2013; he has worked with several military branches through different universities and vendors, both as a Language and Culture French Instructor and a Curriculum Developer. Steven went to the University of Caen, Normandy, and the University of Rennes, Bretagne. Finally, he went to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Steven is married and has two children. He loves gardening, traveling, and soccer; he is a certified coach.

Dr. Malyoune Benoit

A native French speaker, Malyoune is an avid storyteller who has been writing and editing original scenarios to help students with the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI). She was a Visiting Faculty for Indiana University, Language Workshop Program from 2019 to 2020 at Fort Liberty, North Carolina where she taught initial acquisition and sustainment language to active duty military personnel. She has recently joined the DCLCP program at the University of Montana as a faculty to teach French and Francophone language & cultures at the School House at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

Born in Cote d'Ivoire, West Africa, Deproux studied philosophy at the National University of Cote d'Ivoire and at the Ecole Normale d'Abidjan from where he graduated as a certified teacher of philosophy. After a decade of teaching in various high schools in Cote d’Ivoire, Deproux has been living in the United States since 2011 where he undertook graduate studies in French Literature, which culminated in a Ph.D degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Deproux is skilled on subject matters of Francophone literature problematic, differential comparatist approach to the Francophone tale, and analysis of hypertextual relationship.

Before joining The University of Montana, Deproux worked as a French Adjunct Professor at Montclair State University in NJ, Middlesex County College, Edison, NJ, and as a GTA at the University of Alabama

Marie Kain (born Bathelot) is a native speaker from Amiens, France. Marie taught French in Indonesia and China in university programs through the Alliance Francaise and Institut Francais networks. In 2019, Marie started a Ph.D in Adult and Higher Education at Montana State University. There, she taught Educational Psychology to pre-service teachers for 4 years before joining the DCLCP. Her research focuses on the impact of informal international interactions on constructivism developmental theories for domestic American students. In her free time, Marie practices, performs, and teaches circus arts.

Tidjani Kodjo was born in Togo, a West African French-speaking country. He attended primary and high school in Ivory Coast (a West African French-speaking country). After his high school degree, he traveled back to Togo where he studied French and German literature at the University of Lomé from 1997 to 2001, where he graduated with a master’s degree.

Tidjani has been teaching French and German since 2001. He taught French and German in Lomé (capital of Togo), and in Innsbruck (Austria). Now he is a DCLCP French instructor at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He is married and has two kids. He likes reading, traveling, and playing soccer.

Helen was born in Egypt from a family with a Greek Origin. She speaks four languages and one dialect (Arabic Modern standard – Egyptian – French - English – Greek). Mother of a daughter and a son studying in universities.

She was a student in French school “NDA - Notre Dame des Apôtres” from K-12 and then studied accounting and received M1 in Marketing and branding strategy in business from the University of Poitiers France. She also received a Language Diploma “Alliance” from the board of the Alliance Française. As well as a certificate for “Tourism and hotel management” for the French Embassy.

She started her carreer as a French accountant in Egypt for four years then she felt the urge to start her childhood dream and teach French and Math in a French International School “Ecole de l’Avenir”. She was teaching using the CNED through the French government for more than eight years. The CNED is the French-Education public provider for distance learning.

She moved to the United States in 2017 and lives in North Carolina. She has been teaching Egyptian and French in a Foreign Language School in Fort Bragg ever since.

She constantly sets goals for herself, as seen through her qualification to teach multiple languages. She effectively identifies each students’ strengths and weaknesses, and develop a multi-faceted plan to expedite learning.

She demonstrates expert knowledge of the language and deploy effective teaching strategies. Her strong work ethic and dedication to her job are demonstrated by her commitment to her students’ success and her willingness to adjust to their individual learning needs and styles.

My name is Yacine E. V. Coly, I am from Senegal. I graduated in 2012 from Suffolk University Boston. I am currently enrolled in the forensic accounting program at UNC Pembroke. I am a mother of two, and I am passionate about languages. I grew up in a trilingual family. I started teaching French in 2019 at SWEG at Fort Liberty. And I have joined the DLPT team in February 2023. I enjoy working with our partners because each cycle is different and unique.

Franck Lemperlé is a native French speaker from the Champagne region of France. He has lived in the United States since 2006 and has worked in many different sectors, including customer service, the medical field, and the film festival industry. Franck holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in French and Spanish Literature from the University of Montana (2012) and in Communication from California State University at Monterey Bay (2015). Franck is currently completing a Master of Arts degree in Human Communication from California State University at Fullerton. Franck has been an Instructor at DCLCP since March 2023 teaching French language and culture with students from all over the country and colleagues from all over the world.  An avid cook, in his free time Franck enjoys bringing people together over a French meal. Franck is also an ardent reader and cinema enthusiast.

Originally from Ivory Coast, West Africa, I moved to the US in 2011 with a master's degree in French language and literature. I have been teaching at SWEG since 2015 and love it. I recently joined the DCLCP team at Fort Liberty and enjoy the opportunity to impact student's lives in a durable and beautiful way through teaching.
