Building Updates

Construction has begin on the new Montana Museum of Art and Culture building across from the UM Fitness and Recreation Center! The three-level, 17,000-square-foot facility will showcase Montana’s largest publicly owned collection of art, and some of the most significant collections of art and artifacts in the West. The new building will be much larger than the MMAC’s current home in the Performing Arts and Radio Center, allowing the museum to store and display more of its nearly 12,000 works of art.

The Montana Museum of Art and Culture’s construction site has been a parking lot since the 1960s. Now imagine our new museum building surrounded by native trees and plants, an outdoor classroom, and works of public art. Our building will open onto a green strip extending the majestic Memorial Row from the heart of the UM campus to the river.
