A Safe Home for Precious Art and Cultural Artifacts

Since 1894, the MMAC Permanent Collection has grown to include more than 12,000 works of art. These works were donated by hundreds of individuals who wanted their art to be shared with future generations. 

If you are interested in donating to the collection, please contact us. We’ll need to know about your piece(s), so send us an image and any information you may have about it. Works that fit our mission are reviewed by the MMAC’s Senior Curator and Collections Committee. If your work is accepted, you will receive Deed of Gift paperwork which transfers legal title of the gift to the museum. Works that do not fit our mission, require costly conservation, duplicate objects in the collection, or negatively impact our storage space will not be made part of the Permanent Collection. Gifts of art may also be included in a bequest or trust agreement to come to the MMAC at the maturity of the estate. It is best to have the Collections Committee evaluate the piece now, regardless of when the museum eventually receives it. Upon receipt, accepted objects are listed, tagged, numbered, cataloged, and carefully stored to ensure their safety and security.

Adding works to the Permanent Collection and maintaining and storing them present tangible costs in security, overhead, and management. These costs are part of our ongoing responsibility when we accept objects into the Permanent Collection, but we greatly appreciate your taking these expenses into account when offering a gift.
