Description

You got the grant, Congratulations! Now what? This webinar will give you an overview of your duties and responsibilities as a grant manager with a strong focus on resource allocation and budgeting. If you have ever questioned what your role is as a grant manager or felt overwhelmed considering how to allocate resources and managing project finances, then this training is for you. Even if you are currently managing a grant, this training will allow you to see if you are covering all the bases and to be able to make improvements so you can manage your grant more effectively.

Learning Objectives:

Workshop Day 1
After this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the 3 overarching categories of resources that managers allocate.
  • Define in-kind contributions, direct costs and indirect costs
  • Classify the 5 components of a total project budget and contrast those components with the grant budget.
  • Compare Grant Budget vs. Project/Program Budget
  • Identify Cost Pools and Drivers
  • Differentiate between the 4 types of cost and apply to grant budget


Workshop Day 2
After this course, participants will be able to:

  • Calculate a simple variance analysis
  • Implement budget cuts effectively
  • Recognize the importance of documentation
  • Identify the significance of the budget narrative when applying for funding

Trisha Miller

Dr. Trisha Miller

Dr. Trisha Miller is an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Montana in the School of Public and Community Health Sciences. Professor Miller teaches online classes covering a variety of Public Health topics such as Research Methods, Evaluation, Public Management, Budgeting, and Ethics. Professor Miller teaches research methods and policy courses to undergraduates at California State University, Fullerton. She resides in California.
