8 Reasons to Have Your Conference at UM
One of the most important factors of a conference is where it’s held. The location of a conference not only sets the tone; it helps keep everyone comfortable and productive for however long they are there. Here at the University of Montana (UM), we are committed to providing just that for your conference. Here are eight ways we will help your conference be all it can be.
1. The Variety of Venues
UM has a venue for almost any event you can think of. Our Lubrecht Forest venue, located a few miles outside of town, provides the chance to get out and away into the woods surrounding Missoula. The Adams Center, which contains our basketball arena, is perfect for large conferences with the ability to house up to 7,000 people. The School of Extended & Lifelong Learning is suited to house smaller, more intimate gatherings with rooms that can house groups of around 12 people. The University Center is fitted with multiple rooms and conference spaces to host varying amounts of people. UM provides all these venues, plus more to meet whatever need your conference requires
2. Award-Winning UM Catering
Our award-winning University of Montana Catering Services staff is reserved exclusively for students, faulty, staff, alumni, and campus guests like you! They are well equipped to provide an array of services: such as buffets, served meals, appetizers, and more! All of which is supplied by the UM Farm to College Program.
3. Widely Experienced Staff
The equipment managers at UM are some of the most experienced in the country. They regularly help manage events ranging from student-run programs, to massive concerts hosting thousands of people. The staff is also dedicated to providing customer service and helping whenever they can in a manner that exceeds all other university equipment personnel.
4. Array of Available Technology
With our talented staff comes quality technology. At UM you will have access to sound reinforcement, lighting design and production, rigging design and engineering, stage design and set up, stage/event management, customized consultations, and audio and video solutions. Our team strives to make your event preparation as quick and effortless as possible!
5. Comfortable and Convenient Housing
With students gone in the summer, housing becomes yet another option the University of Montana can provide for your conference. Our Residence Halls are clean, comfortable and conveniently located to several facilities across campus. With each room you get a single bed, closet, dresser, study table, chair, curtains and a wastebasket. Wired in-room Internet, guest wireless, and a phone for local calls are available upon request as well. We strive to make your stay with us as convenient and comfortable as possible.
6. Diverse Dietary Options at Food Zoo
Our dining hall is open for group meals during the summer months. The Food Zoo can provide a large selection of food for both tastes and dietary needs including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and Halal meals. The Food Zoo is operated by our award-winning UM Dining office, located in the Lomasson Center along with the Food Zoo itself!
7. Fun Campus Rec Center
The Fitness and Recreation Center is open to guests as well! Here, you and those attending your conference can hit the gym, play basketball, or try and tackle our climbing wall. From our weight room to Jus Chillin’ in the lobby, the Rec Center is a fun and healthy option for any exercise needs you may need during your stay!
8. Unique UM Outdoor Program
Last but not least, the UM Outdoor Program is a perfect place to plan an outdoor adventure! Our experienced staff can handle almost any trip you want to take, from a whitewater rafting trip down Alberton Gorge, to a guided backpacking trip through Glacier National Park.
Whatever you need for your conference UM is more than happy to provide assistance in order to make your conference the best it can be! Any and all assistance can be found in our Montana Event Services (MTES) office, located on the third floor of the University Center.
