Adams Center

Poised at the base of Mount Sentinel on the beautiful University of Montana campus, the Adams Center is a proud Missoula icon, providing diverse entertainment in the mountains of Western Montana since the 1950s.

Named for and dedicated to Harry F. Adams who devoted 44 years of service to UM, the Adams Center underwent a $15 million renovation in 1998 to make improvements to the arena and add the auxiliary facility that now holds the East and West Auxiliary Gyms and the Grizzly Hall of Champions. The Max and Betty Swanson Sky Club, perched over the arena with a wet bar, is perfect for special events up to 200 people.

The Adams Center features a premier arena and two auxiliary gyms able to accommodate a variety of events, including concerts, family shows, exhibitions, trade shows, receptions, banquets, conferences and much more.

Spaces

Dahlberg Arena

Dahlberg Arena is located in the Adams Center and is named after former Grizzly athlete George "Jiggs" Dahlberg who later filled roles as both a UM basketball coach and UM athletic director. Home of the University of Montana basketball teams, Dahlberg Arena is a multi-purpose arena in the Adams Center with space for 5,500 guests for concerts and events. The Dahlberg Arena has hosted concerts including Pearl Jam, Rascal Flatts, and Macklemore.

East & West Auxiliary Gym

The Adams Center auxiliary gymnasiums were completed in 1998, providing Grizzly Athletics with two additional facilities for athletic events and practices. The auxiliary gymnasiums are located just south of the newly-renovated Adams Center and north of the Grizzly Pool. The facility is split into two separate venues. The West Auxiliary Gymnasium (WAG) is the playing venue for the Montana volleyball program. The East Auxiliary Gymnasium (EAG) is a practice facility for all UM programs, particularly during the winter months when indoor training is needed.

Large enough to set up three volleyball courts, allowing it to be conducive to regular-season tournaments, summer camps and other events as needed the auxillary gyms features a permanent maple wood floor and a high-intensity lighting system. A state-of-the-art public-address system is in place, and eight speakers at ceiling height provide quality sound throughout the facility.

There is seating for 1,218 fans, providing an intimate atmosphere for matches. The entire facility is handicap accessible from both the east and west sides. The connecting south concourse of the Adams Center is used for ticket sales, food and beverage sales, and restrooms.
