Emily was born and raised in Glendive, Montana.  Following in the footsteps of her parents and grandmother, she attended the University of Montana ("UM"), graduating in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and minors in economics and music.  During her time as a UM student, Emily was fortunate to spend her summers doing various internships that lead her to the legal profession.  For instance, she spent one summer interning for Senator Max Baucus after receiving the J. Stanley Kimmitt Public Service Internship.  She spent another summer interning with the Honorable Donald Molloy on the U.S. Federal District Court for the District of Montana and with a nonprofit child advocacy law firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  

After graduating from UM, Emily attended the University of California, Irvine School of Law and graduated with her juris doctorate in 2016.  During law school, Emily served as the Article Selection & Style Chair on the executive board of the UC Irvine Law Review and as a Vice-Chair of the Student Bar Association.  She also had the unique opportunity to brief and argue a case before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.  After law school, Emily clerked for the Honorable Sidney R. Thomas, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  She now works as a litigation associate in the Los Angeles office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy.
