Deadline for IRB Submission

No Deadline for Minimal Risk Studies (expedited and exempt levels of review)

The IRB Checklist/Application may be submitted at any time, along with any other required forms or documents.


Deadline for Full Committee Review: 1st Business Day of the Month 

If review from the full committee is required, documents must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the 1st business day of the month in order to be sent to the IRB members at least three (3) weeks prior to the monthly IRB meeting. If the 1st falls on a weekend or holiday, applications may be submitted the following business day.  Principal Investigators will be informed of the committee's decision by email within a week following the IRB meeting. As revisions are often required, please allow four to eight weeks for final approval to be obtained.  

Full Committee Meeting Dates - Spring 2024

IRB meetings are open to the public and we encourage people to attend, particularly students or faculty/staff who are interested in serving as an IRB member. However, the IRB Chair may excuse guests during a meeting at any time, including during voting, discussion of confidential material, or for any other reason. Please email the UM IRB office for a meeting link.

  • Thursday, April 18th @ 3:00-5:00PM

Note: Meetings will be canceled if there are no proposals up for full committee review.
