Conference & Guest Housing

Residence Halls at the University of Montana are available for participants of special groups, conferences or workshops, and youth camps which are affiliated with or sponsored by the University of Montana.

Various Residence Halls are used to house conference groups, all of which are conveniently located on the main campus.

Our summer conference business typically runs the end of May through the end of July. Some weeks throughout the summer we are very full, so book your conference well in advance to ensure availability.

UM provides both wired in-room internet service as well as a courtesy guest wireless network for campus visitors. The “grizzly-guest” wireless network uses open, unencrypted transmission and is not intended to send or receive sensitive information.

There is a courtesy phone available for local calls. A calling card is necessary to make long distance calls.

Daily maid service is not provided for individual rooms. Each participant is responsible for making their own bed, garbage removal, and general cleanliness of their own room. The shared bathroom facilities and common areas are cleaned daily.

Many dining facilities are located within walking distance of the Residence Halls. Please contact UM Dining or the UM Housing Office for more information.

Policies

  • Participants staying in the Residence Halls are expected to comply with all Conference and Guest Housing policies and regulations.
  • Participants will be charged for damages to rooms, lost keys, and lost access cards upon checkout.
  • Electrical appliances for cooking in rooms are not allowed. Sleeping bags are also not permitted.

Amenities at Lewis and Clark Village

Summer housing is available at Lewis and Clark Village. Summer housing is available only for the months of June and July.  Housing is not available for the month of August or any part of August. Please complete the Summer Lewis and Clark Village Application if you are interested in living in Lewis and Clark Village during the summer only. Assignments for summer are made in mid-April and applications are accepted beginning February 1st.

If you are interested in housing for the upcoming Fall semester you will need to submit a Lewis and Clark Villages Fall Application. Fall housing is for enrolled students at the University of Montana only. Housing assignments cannot be confirmed until mid-April. If housing cannot be provided, the full deposit will be refunded.

Due to housing shortage, married couples will be required to rent the entire apartment ($996/month for May and June and July rent amount is pending approval of the Board of Regents. Rates are proposed to have up to a 5% increase of the 2016-2017 rates) or find another couple to share the apartment rent.

Rental Rates

Rent will be paid in full for the requested dates of stay prior to check in and receiving keys preferably at least 5 business days in advance by calling or sending rent to the UM Housing Office.

The nightly housing rate is $16.60 per bedroom, per night or $498.00 per month for May and June. The housing rate for July is pending approval of the Board of Regents. Rates are proposed to have up to a 5% increase of the 2016-2017 rates. If you stay less than one month (30 nights), you will be charged for one month’s stay.

Cancellations

Cancellations received with greater than 30 days prior to expected arrival will be assessed a $50.00 cancellation fee.

Cancellations received with less than 30 days prior to expected arrival will be assessed a $350.00 cancellation fee.

Driving Directions to Campus

West Bound I-90

  1. Take Missoula's first exit onto Van Buren Street, turn left at the stop sign, and merge into the right lane.
  2. At the stop light, turn right onto Broadway Street.
  3. Move into the furthest left lane, and turn left onto Madison at the stoplight. 
  4. Driving over the bridge, stay in the left lane, and veer left at the fork in the road. After the fork, move into the right lane and continue down Arthur Street after the light. Watch the 25 mph speed limit.

East Bound I-90

  1. Take Missoula's last exit onto Van Buren Street, Exit 105. Turn right at the stop sign and merge into the right lane
  2. At the stop light, turn right onto Broadway Street.
  3. Move into the furthest left lane, and turn left onto Madison at the stoplight. 
  4. Driving over the bridge, stay in the left lane, and veer left at the fork in the road. After the fork, move into the right lane and continue down Arthur Street after the light. Watch the 25 mph speed limit.

From the Missoula County Airport

  1. Leaving the airport, turn right onto Broadway Street.
  2. Take the first left leading you to the entrance of East Bound I-90.
  3. Follow I-90 and take Missoula's last exit onto Van Buren Street, turning right at the stop sign.
  4. Move into the furthest left lane, and turn left onto Madison at the stoplight.
  5. Driving over the bridge, stay in the left lane, and veer left at the fork in the road. After the fork, move into the right lane and continue down Arthur Street after the light. Watch the 25 mph speed limit. 
  6. Turn left at the light on Beckwith.

From Highway 12 & 93 North

  1. Highway 12 & 93 become Brooks Street through Missoula. Follow Brooks Street through Missoula to Higgins Avenue. Brooks merges with Higgins at Hellgate High School.
  2. Be sure you are in the right lane, and turn right onto Sixth Street. Follow Sixth Street for six blocks to the entrance of campus.

Visitor Parking

Visitor parking regulations apply 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Parking is free on weekdays after 5:00 pm, weekends, and University-observed holidays unless posted otherwise. 

  • Quick Stop - Located in most lots and marked by orange signs, Quick Stops are free parking spaces that assist visitors who are running quick errands. Quick Stops have a maximum time limit of 20 minutes, or as posted.
  • Day Pass - Can be purchased at the following locations: UM Police Department in Building 32, located near the stadium, University Center Bookstore, and the Treasury Office in the Lommasson Center and the cashiers window at Missoula College. With a day pass, you can park in most lots except for hourly-parking and reserved parking lots. For overnight guests, please contact the UM Police Department at (406) 243-6132 for special restrictions.
  • Hourly Parking - Each lot has a machine that dispenses hourly-parking permits. Place the permit on your dash board. The cost is $1.50 per hour.
  • Disabled Parking - Visitors' vehicles bearing federal, state, or municipal-issued disability hangers or plates are approved for parking in all disability parking spaces and must be accompanied by a daily-parking pass or hourly-parking permit.
  • Bus and Trailer Parking - Contact the UM Police Department at (406) 243-6132 at least two working days in advance to arrange for parking of buses, trailers, or other large vehicles.
