Community Connections

Many of us who have retired from UM are active in the community. Some of us are already past the usual retirement age and many of us have parents and good friends who are elderly. Therefore, we are posting information about a number of organizations in Missoula and/or on the UM campus that may be useful.

  • Age-Friendly University (AFU) Global Network--The Age-Friendly University (AU) network comprises institutions of higher education around the world that have endorsed the 10 AFU principles and committed thmselves to becoming more age-friendly in their programs and policies. 
  • Gerontology Minor--UM has a Gerontology Minor involving faculty and students from across disciplines, including Communicative Sciences and Disorders, Health and Human Performance, Nursing, Pharmacy Practice, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Public and Community Health Sciences, and Social Work. Gayle Hudgins, Pharm.D., BCGP in the College of Health coordinates the minor.
  • Missoula Aging Services--Missoula Aging Services is the designated Area Agency on Aging for Missoula and Ravalli Counties. It promotes the independence, dignity, and health of older adults and those who care for them.
