Student Affairs IT began as the Resident Technology Assistant (RTA) program in 1999. In 2006, the program moved from its base in Turner Hall to its current location in 014 Elrod Hall. In 2016, the program name changed to Technology Educator and Consultant or TEC program to include student employees that may not live in residence halls, but still provide support to the deparments of Student Affairs. SAIT is now a team made up of mostly students, though there are nearly a half-dozen full-time employees.
SAIT provides technical support to all students of the University of Montana, and offers in-room support to on-campus residents through the TECs. In 2014, Student Affairs IT opened a Service Desk in the UC open to all students. The desk is open Monday through Friday, 11:00am to 5:00pm.
SAIT supports most departments within the division of Student Affairs. We provide assistance with work-related computer problems, including network support, help with local and virtual applications, and custom-built apps. SAIT also provides technical support to all students at the University of Montana.
