Announcements:

Office 2010

  • We are still getting reports of some minor issues with Office 2010 and will address them as they come in
  • Office 2011 for Mac is available upon request
  • The problem with Excel 2010 and Toshiba printers should be resolved, contact SAIT if your issues persist

Crystal Reports

  • Server isn't ready yet, but reports can still be generated on your own data

CAG (Citrix Access Gateway)

  • The web interface has been overhauled and will go live in August
  • Citrix will soon be accessible with your mobile Andriod and iOS devices, setup instructions are available and may published in the UserNews soon
  • The platform is working as expected, and will soon be usable on and off campus

RTA Training

  • The fall brings five new RTAs
  • Training begins August 8th, and continues for about two weeks
  • SAIT may contact you to participate in an RTA scavenger hunt, your help is appreciated
  • We apologize for any delays this may cause, but we will work our hardest to provide you with timely support

Wifi

  • Student Affairs will be buying 100 Access Points (APs) with the initial purchase
  • Let us know if you want to purchase any of those for better wireless coverage in your department 
  • They are approximately $800 each and should have no recurring costs according to Loey Knapp
  • SAIT can get a cost estimate for wireless implementation upon request via support ticket
  • Knowles hall should be implemented this fall

Web Announcements:

Temporary Web Developer Hiring Update

  • Our selected candidate did not work out long term, so SAIT is again going through the search process
  • Some deadlines on pending web projects will need to be pushed back, you will be contacted if this is necessary for your project(s)

Web Committee

  • Design and Accessibility standards have been updated, please read them if you do any web work for your department
  • These require that all video and audio be captioned, among other things
  • Given to web committee attendees and will be posted in the next UserNews

Google Analytics

  • Google Analytics is available for everyone's Cascade site but will require a site republish
  • Upcoming trainings will focus on search engine optimization and the usage of Analytics data

SMTP

  • smtp is the primary method by which your web applications send email
  • IT is retiring a few old smtp servers which may cause an interruption in email service on August 8th
  • SAIT has already made the migration for most apps, but please inform us if an application is not sending emails like it should
