"The best thing about my job is that I have the opportunity to preserve, protect, and enhance the natural resources of western Montana."

Casey Ryan

I grew up in western Montana and spent a lot of time playing and exploring outside. As I grew older, I realized that the natural world was protected and handed down from generations of people who strongly felt that it was worth preserving for future generations. Now I work to ensure that future generations enjoy the same outdoor experiences that I had.

After I graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in science in Geography, I went back to school for another 2 years and received a Master's degree in Hydrology, also from UM. Now I oversee projects ranging from hydrology to dam safety to road construction. I like that my job requires me to constantly learn and grow to acquire new skills.

Now as an adult, I still enjoy spending time outdoors - hiking, bike riding, fishing, backpacking, and rafting. My other hobby is playing music - the piano is my favorite instrument to play - and I also enjoy spending time with my family.
