Zach Divilbiss, recent graduate, working on research with Dr. David Macaluso.

As a small, undergraduate-focused department, we're big on ideas and opportunities.

The physics department here is incredible! It offers the opportunity to learn from top notch professors and be a part of an active and inviting community of students and staff.

Einstein's Relativity

PHSX 141N A unique introductory treatment of one of the most paradigm-shifting advances in the history of science, this course will present the mathematics behind relativity in an accessible and engaging way. At the conclusion of the course, students will view our experience of reality in an entirely new light.

Freshmen Physics Experience

PHSX 101 An introductory course for majors and non-majors alike, this course will give students an understanding of the physics department, and what it is like being a physics major. The course includes regular guest lectures from faculty and staff, panels from current and former students, and engaging hands-on activities.

Get involved!

There are numerous opportunities to get involved in our department. Before graduating, most of our majors work on research directly with one of our esteemed faculty. We also have a full outreach/education team of students, along with an active chapter of SPS (Society of Physics Students). When not in class, we also have regular department socials, intramural teams, and special events. We hope that much of your learning and enjoyment will occur beyond the classroom!
