Energy
At the University of Montana, and most institutions, the most significant contributing factor to Green House Gases is our consumption of energy. We purchase electricity from the local utility company NorthWestern, generate our own steam on campus to heat our buildings and water systems, drive our University fleet of vehicles, and operate thousands of electrical appliances.
However, there are numerous strategies the Office of Sustainability implements and advocates; all of which are designed to change our environmental impact by either reducing consumption or using a different system for the same result on campus. If you have notice a over-consumptive system, or consider a method by which we could reduce energy consumption on campus, reach out to Sustainability Coordinator Eva Rocke and start a conversation!
