Green Office

  1. A Green Office is a community of peers that have committed to sustainable, healthy, and environmentally friendly practices in their work space.

UM's Green Office is an initiative to engage faculty, staff, and working students with sustainability.  Many universities across the country, from Harvard to Portland Community College, are implementing special programs such as this one in an effort to reduce their environmental impact. The Green Office Program offers practical and effective actions that allow individuals and entire departments to mitigate their impact.

The Office of Sustainability launched the Green Office Program in Fall 2018 with a handful of pilot offices. These Green Leads, as well as an annual EnergyCorps National Service member, are building the foundation of the program with the hope that these practices will become standard campus-wide. The program has expanded since then, and is now coordinated by the ASUM Sustainability Coordinator.
