2021 Odyssey of the Stars

UM’s College of the Arts and Media will continue our time-honored annual fundraising event, Odyssey of the Stars. This year, Odyssey will look a little different as we gather virtually with donors and loyal friends for a live stream event beginning at 7 p.m. on March 24. Please join us to celebrate past honorees and look back on an inspiring year of creativity and resilience as our students, faculty, and staff deftly designed new innovative ways of connecting their art to people around the world. We will also join forces with the UM Foundation Big Give Campaign, a 24-hour day of giving and social media engagement from noon, March 24 through noon, March 25.

As the signature fundraising event for the College Scholarship and Student Impact Fund, Odyssey provides vital support to the arts and artists of the future.

Since 2001, Odyssey has paid homage to 30 respected artists in visual arts, dance, media arts, music, and theatre. Each individual shared their artistic talents with broad audiences, including musicians, visual artists, actors, directors, designers, casting agent, and a YouTube sensation. For a list of past honorees, visit hwww.umt.edu/umarts/odyssey/PastHonorees.php.

gregjohnson.jpgAlong with highlighting past honorees and current students and faculty, we will also pay tribute to Gregory Johnson, who passed away on January 8, 2021. The longest-serving Artistic Director of Montana Repertory Theatre (1990-2018), Greg produced an annual national tour of a play from the classic American canon, co-founded an annual writers’ gathering, staged many local productions, and taught generations of theatre students. Gifts given in memory of Greg will benefit theatre students and aspiring playwrights.
