BFA Senior Project

The Senior Project is sometimes held off-campus, as a community-based project designed by UM Bachelor of Fine Arts candidates. For the Senior Project, dance students may develop either a choreography/performance or teaching project that is offered to the Missoula or greater Montana community.

Examples of past choreography/performance projects include:

  • Presenting an individual or collaborative dance performance in the Missoula community
  • Presenting choreography at a gallery or at the Missoula Art Museum as part of the First Friday Art Walk
  • Presenting choreography for “First Night Missoula”
  • Presenting choreography to support a non-profit organization

Examples of past teaching projects include:
  • Offering a contemporary dance workshop to local or out-of-state dance studios
  • Offering creative movement workshops for children’s summer camps
  • Offering dance classes for at-risk youth
  • Offering dance classes for senior citizens
  • Offering dance classes for individuals with disabilities in group homes
