Fall 2021 Comeback Season

The School of Theatre and Dance is thrilled to have found a path forward to continue to create and share the work of students, faculty, staff, and guest artists in these new times. Our Fall 2021 COMEBACK Seasons will be presented live in our community and on our stages.

Ticketed events will be available begriming October 1 for purchase through the Adams Center Box Office and online through Griztix. Community events are free and open to the public with donations appreciated.

Due to current COVID-19 numbers in Missoula County, audience members are required to wear masks over their nose and mouth.

DANCE ON LOCATION

October 2 / Mansfield Library Mall - Free, Donations Accepted

This free outdoor concert begins at UM’s Mansfield Library Mall and unfolds as the audience travels (on foot, bike, stroller, skateboard, etc.) to different venues on and around campus to behold diverse dance and performance-art installations. 'Dance on Location' invites the audience to celebrate the gems of UM’s beautiful campus through the eyes of a choreographer and the magnificent movement of dancers.

HAUNTED: AN IMMERSIVE DESIGN EXHIBITION

October 6-10, 13-15 / Montana Theatre Stage - Tickets Required

This walk-through design exhibition showcases four distinct environments that have been inspired by scary stories from across the globe. Admission to 'Haunted' is $5 and can be purchased at the door. Audiences are welcome to arrive at any time between the exhibition’s opening time and 15 minutes prior to its end.

VERBATIM: CELEBRATING RESILIENCE

October 17 / Zootown Arts Community Center - Free, Donations Accepted

This Theatre for Social Justice project will feature verbatim theatre performances created in collaboration between UM Acting students and high school students working with EmpowerMT. A public sharing of world will take place at the ZACC. The performance is free to the public and donations will be accepted at the door. 

FABLED: A YOUTHFUL CELEBRATION OF MUSICAL THEATRE AND DANCE

November 10, 12-14, 17-21 (Special $5 Matinee at 2PM for Griz-Cat) / Montana Theatre - Tickets Required

FABLED is an evening of five short musicals and two original dance pieces for the whole family. as a celebratory return to live performance, each piece will feature familiar characters from children's literature including the the Ant and the Grasshopper and the Tortoise and the Hare. All performances will be accessible, relaxed performances intended to welcome our whole community back to live performance. The show will run approximately 85 minutes with one 15-minute intermission. Seating will be general admission to allow for social distancing. The program will feature the following pieces:

  • "Book Lovers," Book & Lyrics by Talaura Harms, Music by Jonathan Bauerfeld
  • "Still Waters Run Deep," Choreographed by Shenoah Curley-Wildshoe
  • "What's Your Wish?" by Thicket and Thistle

A highlight of the Dance Program’s season, this annual black-box showcase provides audiences with a chance to see new, original work of emerging and established dance artists in an intimate setting and gives developing designers the opportunity to collaborate with those dancers.
