Contemporary Native American Art

Reflections After Lewis and Clark

This full-color hardbound book showcases work exhibited in the Montana Museum of Art and Culture’s traveling exhibit: Contemporary Native American Art – Reflections after Lewis and Clark. The show went on to travel nationally including exhibitions in North Dakota, South Dakota and Washington state among many others. Our publication presents an enriched dialog about Lewis and Clark with a Native American perspective. Artwork from leading contemporary artists is showcased alongside interpretations of each piece contributed by Native American writers Kathleen Ash-Milby (M.A.) and Gail Tremblay (M.F.A) interpretations of each piece.  This complex and unique collection draws connections to the Lewis and Clark Expedition and Bicentennial and invites readers to open a dialogue on the subject.
