Personal Summary

As a Montana native and Griz alumnae, McKennah is passionate about fostering global engagement opportunities for young leaders who wish to promote international adventure, collaboration, empathy, and integrity. McKennah joined the Mansfield Center as a Program Officer in September 2022, and her role largely focuses on the YSEALI Professional Fellows Program. From coordinating with local partners across the Pacific Northwest, to building relationships with local Fellowship and homestay hosts, as well as preparing and facilitating programmatic and cultural orientations and study tours, McKennah is responsible for implementing a successful, meaningful visitation to the United States for all Fellows, emphasizing the wonderful work of PFP Fellows, and reporting on their achievements throughout the program. Her international portfolio is highlighted by her time living abroad in Germany, working for the German Embassy in New York City, and promoting global engagement opportunities for University of Montana students as the Education Abroad Coordinator between 2020 and 2022.

Education

McKennah graduated from the University of Montana (2017) with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication with a minor in German Studies and a certificate in Entertainment Management. After graduation, she obtained her Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification through the International TEFL Academy in the summer of 2017. Upon finding herself back in Montana, McKennah pursued and completed a Master of Education from the University of Montana (2022) in International Educational Leadership.

International Experience

After a month-long immersion program in high school and a semester abroad junior year of college -- both in Germany --, McKennah became profoundly connected to working within the international realm. McKennah has since taken on a variety of globally oriented roles: an on-campus Student Ambassador for the worldwide nonprofit organization ISEP (International Exchange Programs), a Young Ambassador for the scholarly behemoth DAAD (German Academic Exchange Services), an au pair in Germany, the Media & Operations intern at the German Center for Research and Innovation within the German Consulate in New York City, the University of Montana Education Abroad Coordinator (January 2020 - September 2022), to the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative Professional Fellows (YSEALI PFP) Program Officer in the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center.

Hobbies

McKennah enjoys practicing German, wandering unfamiliar places, attending local events and live music shows, and pretending to be good at Jeopardy.
