Personal Summary

Bethany Zulick is a Program Officer at the Mansfield Center, primarily overseeing the Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Secondary Educators program and the Tohoku University Exchange. She has taught English as a foreign language to secondary school students and university students in Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, and Germany and holds a Master's in TESOL. Her areas of interest include teacher and student identity and emotion, language ideologies, and English-medium instruction. At Michigan State's Center for Language Teaching Advancement, Bethany contributed to projects related to the teaching of Less Commonly Taught Languages and online language teaching.

Bethany is passionate about the value of studying languages and the humanities because of their capacity to deepen our understanding of ourselves, each other, and the world. These interests brought her to the Mansfield Center, where she works on programs that promote intercultural understanding and create globally minded citizens. She feels lucky to have the chance to connect with so many fascinating people and to be part of a global community.
