Joe Ricketts’ Jackson Fork Ranch Gift Funds Biodiversity Research
A major gift from Joe Ricketts’ Jackson Fork Ranch will fund a multiyear research and multimedia collaboration at UM that seeks to better understand biodiversity in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Faculty from the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation will lead a series of studies supported by master’s and doctoral students funded through Ricketts’ gift. Missoula-based Warm Springs Productions will film the research for distribution through multimedia channels.

A Lifelong Advocate for Education and Democracy
Steve Levine’s connection to UM and the Mansfield Center began in 1995, when he was invited to co-direct a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institute at the University. His service continued, first as the Mansfield Professor of Asia-Pacific Affairs, then as the center’s associate director. Although opportunity eventually drew the Levines to North Carolina, they have maintained their close connection to the Mansfield Center and recently made a major gift in support of programs, classes and activities that advance their passion for global affairs and democracy.
