Project 529 is a small team of cycling enthusiasts who wish to use their affinity for building technology to help enhance the cycling/outdoor experience. Their 529 Garage is a bike registry program where you can register your bike, report thefts, and promote bike recovery.

Law enforcement agencies recover thousands of bikes every year but rarely can return them to their rightful owners. By registering your bike, you'll make it easier for law enforcement to reunite you with your bicycle if it is recovered.

1. Visit www.project529.com/umontana
2. Enter your contact information, record distinguishing details of your bike, and upload photos (optional).
3. Reach out to the ASUM Office of Transportation to pick up a Shield sticker to put on your bike.
4. If you would like to have assistance registering your bike, reach out to the ASUM Office of Transportation staff. We would be happy to help!

Visit the ASUM Office of Transportation in UC 115 during office hours (9-5 M-F) or email udash@umontana.edu for an appointment to pick one up. Just ask any of the transportation staff and they will be happy to give you a Project 529 sticker to register your bike!

It is important to file a police report as soon as you notice your bike has been stolen. This is necessary to file an insurance claim and retrieve your bike from law enforcement if it is recovered. Reporting stolen bikes also helps police understand the scope of the problem.
If your bicycle is lost or stolen, follow the steps below:
1. Alert the 529 Garage community that your bike is missing by logging into your account and clicking "report a theft".
2. Contact UMPD to file your report.
