Everything You Need To Know
Career Development FAQs
Why attend Career Development Events?
The purpose of Career Development events are to provide each student with the opportunity to develop skills outside the classroom, to network with employers and to provide workshops that enhance the student's knowledge.
What are Office Hours and how do I sign up?
Office Hours are 20-minute, one-on-one appointments and professional dress is encouraged. While less formal than an interview, they are still part of a company's selection process; so show up early, bring your resume and be ready with questions! You can sign up for recruiter visits on our website, and chose a time slot that works best for your schedule.
How many workshops can I attend?
Students can attend all workshops offered by Career Development. The more you attend the more knowledge you will gain.
What should I wear to these events?
For all workshops students can come straight from class. There are no dress requirements! If you are attending a networking event, recruiter visit or office hours, business professional clothing for Men and Women is encouraged (and for some events even required). Check with the Student Success Center or a faculty member for up-to-date wardrobe tips.
What should I bring to a networking event or office hours?
For most networking events and office hours recruiters will ask for a resume, so come prepared. Using a portfolio to carry your resume is recommended for all networking events. This will give you a place to keep resumes and business cards.
