My current research interest is the rhetoric of offensive humor, specifically how and why certain attempts at humor cross the line from provocative into offensive. My thesis is examining the recent stand-up comedy of Dave Chapelle and attempting to utilize the benign violation theory of humor to explain why it has received so much negative reception.
