More About the National Student Exchange

Much like Study Abroad, NSE is an opportunity to Study Away, but in the USA, US territories or Canada for a semester or a year. The many benefits include the ability for you to:

  • Study away AFFORDABLY
  • Grow confidence and gain greater independence
  • Explore and experience new cultures, landscapes and cities
  • Study courses of interest not offered at UM
  • Create networks for future career or Graduate School opportunities

The National Student Exchange was created by UM and two other Universities in 1968 to enable their students to study in other parts of the US. Seven students exchanged between three campuses that first year. Today approximately 170 schools in the NSE Consortium exchange over 2000 students annually.
