Service Saturday Making Crazy Costumes at MCMS

A sea slug

Are you ready to immerse yourself in a world of dazzling colors and extraordinary creativity? This year, the WildWalk Artist in Residence, Shelby Baldridge, invites you to be part of something truly special: crafting a parade float dedicated to one of nature's most mesmerizing creations—the nudibranch, also known as the sea bunny (its a sea slug)! Famous for their vivid hues and intricate patterns, these marine creatures capture the imagination like no other. And we're bringing their awe-inspiring beauty to life in a show-stopping parade float!

This unique workshop is your chance to let your creativity flow and contribute to a masterpiece that will be the highlight of this year’s parade. Whether you're an art enthusiast, a fan of marine life, or someone looking for a fun and engaging way to spend a Sunday, this event is for you.

When and Where?

Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 7th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and join us in the Fine Arts Building at the University. This is your opportunity to dive deep into the art of float-making, guided by the talented Shelby Baldridge. No experience? No problem! This workshop is designed for participants of all skill levels to enjoy the process of creation and collaboration.

Why Nudibranchs?

Nudibranchs may be less known to some, but their breathtaking beauty is undeniable. These sea slugs aren't your ordinary garden variety; they boast an array of colors and patterns that make them the underwater equivalent of a walking art exhibit. By focusing our parade float on these incredible creatures, we aim to not only celebrate their beauty but also raise awareness about the rich biodiversity of our oceans.
