Thank you for considering a Tribute Tree in honor of your loved one. We call them Tribute Trees instead of 'memorial trees' because the person being honored does not have to be deceased.

Please use this page to donate to or sponsor a Tribute Tree, and make sure you give the name of the person you are honoring by including their name in the comments/more information part of the form. 

Your donation is handled by the UM Foundation and is tax deductible.

 All Tribute Trees have a personalized plaque, as in the examples below. 

To choose the tree and create the specific language for your plaque please contact Marilyn Marler (marilyn.marler@umontana.edu).

To dedicate an existing tree in the Arboretum, the total donation requested is $1500. 

To have a new tree planted, the total donation requested is $2500.  

For both categories of Tribute Trees, donor funds will be used for the ongoing care and maintenance of the dedicated tree and plaque, as well as the perpetual care of all trees in the Arboretum.

Multiple people can cumulatively donate to the price of a Tribute Tree. If you have any questions, please contact Marilyn via email any time. Tribute Trees can be arranged year round. New trees are typically planted in spring or fall, and require several months of planning to find the right combination of species and location, and then ordering the plant from a suitable nursery. We are happy to help with the whole process, and the tree is guaranteed for 25 years.
