Welcome to the Off-Campus
Renter Center Website

What is the Off-Campus Renter Center?

The Renter Center helps students helps students find housing, understand their rights and responsibilities, and resolve conflicts they are having with their landlords. We also advocate for student renters at the state and local level to make rental housing in Missoula more safe, affordable, and efficient. The Renter Center is a service provided to students by ASUM and the UM Office of Student Affairs.

What can we do for you?

There are a number of service we provide to students. We offer counseling on a one on one basis. We help students understand their rights under the Montana Landlord-Tenant Act. We draft greivance and protest letters when appropriate. And we connect students with other community resources that can meet their individual needs. We also work closely with ASUM Legal Services. If we are unable to resolve a conflict, they can offer expert legal advice and even representation in court.

How do I contact the Office?

If you are having a problem with your landlord, or just have a question about your rights as a renter please let us know. Our office is located on the ground floor of the UC in the student government suites. We are open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. Stop be or give us a call. You can help us assess your situation faster by filling out the on-line intake form.
