Weather and climate

Missoula has a temperate climate with very low humidity. However, it is in the Rockies, which means the weather may vary dramatically from the forecast and one must always be prepared for unexpected weather events (hail, sleet, snow in June, etc)!

Nighttime low temperatures may reach the low 40s Farenheit, with highs during the day likely up to 90s Farenheit.

Summertime in the Rocky Mountain West is wildfire season. While fires typically begin later in the summer, please be prepared for the potential of poor air quality.

The University of Montana campus is at 3200’ elevation. Please be aware that you may require time to adjust to this altitude.

The dorm is not air conditioned. It is very effective to keep shades shut and windows closed during the day, and windows open at night when the temperatures are cool.
