Active Attack Preparedness

Develop a Survival Mindset

Awareness and Preparation

  • Take time to understand your surroundings and environment before an emergency occurs.
  • Ask yourself "What if?" questions and develop a plan.

When seconds count, help is only minutes away!

The University of Montana and UMPD understand that the best response to an active attack situation is one that has been thought out and prepared before the emergency occurs. The best way to enhance preparedness is through a whole community approach by providing resources and information directed towards active attack awareness, incident response, and workplace violence. In many cases, there is no pattern or method to the selection of victims by an active attack, and these situations are by their very nature are unpredictable and evolve quickly. Our community law enforcement offers free courses to better prepare you to deal with an active attack situation. UMPD will also provide a safety assessment of your workspace.
