Dear UM Colleagues,

As we conclude the semester, I want to extend my deep gratitude for you and of the work we accomplished together this year.

UM is on a trajectory of growth and innovation, and that only is made possible because of your commitment from every corner of campus. I am honored to work alongside you in this meaningful and challenging work of steering UM’s future and creating inclusive prosperity.

In 2022, UM accomplished great things:

• We secured R1 status, becoming one of the top 4% of research universities in the nation.
• We recruited the largest first-year class to campus in six years, marking a second year of continuous undergraduate enrollment growth.  
• We broke ground on more than $100 million in campus infrastructure improvements.

While there are many goals ahead of us, we should take a moment and reflect on our success from the past 12 months.

I wish you all a safe and relaxing holiday season, with lots of rest, as we prepare for even greater achievement in 2023.
