Provost's charge to the committee

For this position, we are seeking a dynamic leader with experience in the technology, operations, and management required to lead the Office of the Registrar during critical and transitional time. The Office of the Registrar plays a key role in the academic operations of the University, with responsibility for student registration and records, class schedules, instructional space assignments, graduation clearance, the course catalog, and Convocation and Commencement events. As we plan for and implement measures to ensure a “healthy fall” in 2020, the logistical support the Office will provide for fall 2020 cannot be underestimated. This is an extraordinary opportunity to continue upgrading Office of the Registrar operations and integrating its functions with those of other campus entities. Let this serve as a charge to the search committee to attract experienced and enthusiastic candidates who will help transform the Office of the Registrar and its support for UM faculty, staff, and students.

The successful candidate must work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals across campus, Missoula, and the Montana University System. They must be well versed in current trends in the technology, systems, and processes that support the optimal functioning of the Office of the Registrar and have the capacity to explain the nuances of these disciplines to others. They must understand and share the University’s commitment to student success and the unique role the Office of the Registrar plays within the fabric of the larger University.
