Dr. Diana Doan-Crider

Diana Doan-Crider, SKC PI

Diana's mother's family is Odam (Tepehuan) and German from Durango, Mexico, and her father is Irish-Scottish and from southern Louisiana. She has diverse perspectives having lived and worked with underrepresented communities throughout her life and was also raised by parents and grandparents who fought for civil and environmental justice causes. Diana is a wildlife and landscape ecologist who obtained her B.S. degree in Wildlife Biology through the University of Montana. She received an M.S. degree in Range and Wildlife Management from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and a Ph.D. in Wildlife Science from both Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Texas A&M University. Diana spent 30 years studying black bears in her mother's homeland of Mexico where she focused on understanding how bears use their landscapes and interact with humans in arid and climate challenged environments. She currently focuses on strengthening indigenous communities through natural resource related culture- and place-based academic initiatives.
