Renter Guidelines

Renting a bike from ASUM Transportation is a very easy process, but it does come with a few renter guidelines and policies. As a bicycle renter, you must be responsible for your bicycle and your safety. Read our guidelines below that you must agree to to keep yourself, your bike, and others safe!

For your safety, when riding a bicycle, UM recommends you wear a helmet. You should inspect the bicycle before each ride. UM makes no warranties express or implied of fitness for a particular purpose. By accepting this bicycle, you assume the risk of any harm that may result from riding the bicycle. By accepting this bicycle, you agree to release and hold harmless UM for any loss, damage, or expense arising out of your use of the bicycle.

UM agrees to provide use of bicycle, lock, and helmet, and the user agrees to the following:

  1. CONDITION: Bicycle, lock, and helmet must be returned in the same condition as when issued.
  2.  ASSUMPTION OF RISK: The user agrees that bicycle riding can be a dangerous activity and assumes the risk of bicycle riding to be their own liability.
  3.  RETURN: The bicycle, lock, and helmet (if taken) must be returned by the end of the loan period. A $10 per business day fee (per bike) will be assessed for late returns. Failure to return the bicycle, lock, and helmet will subject the user to a fine of up to $600.00 per bicycle, $35.00 per lock and/or key, and $8.00 per helmet. A fee will be assessed for late returns of $10.00 per business day.

All other information regarding the pickup/dropoff of your bicycle or anything else you may have questions about will be provided to you once your rental application is accepted.
