Genetics and Evolution
The Genetics and Evolution concentration within the Biology major is for students interested in genetics, including molecular genetics, population genetics, and genomics, as well as evolutionary biology. This option is a graduate prep program, and is for students interested in academia or employment at a governmental agency or a non-governmental organization, or for students interested in genetic counseling graduate programs.

Graduation Plans
There are two example graduation plans for Genetics and Evolution: one with the introductory chemistry sequence (one year chemistry), and one with the advanced chemistry sequence (two years chemistry). Which you choose will depend upon your interests and career goals. Choose the introductory chemistry sequence if your interests are in population genetics, conservation genetics, or if you are undecided. Choose the advanced chemistry sequence for molecular genetics, microbial genetics, genetic counseling, or other graduate school preparation.
