Disability Services for Students

Response to COVID-19 and Remote Services

In light of the University’s directives to remote instruction as a way to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Disability Services for Students (DSS) is conducting all work remotely througout Summer 2020 Semester. Therefore, our physical office is closed until further notice.

The health and safety of everyone including students, faculty and staff, and our team are important to us. DSS staff are working remotely and are committed to responding quickly to your inquiries and requests.

All modifications still apply for remote instruction. Students with disabilities continue to have access to reasonable modifications through remote delivery of courses.

If you are a UM student registered with our office, contact your DSS coordinator by email with questions and concerns. To find staff’s email, visit Meet Our Team

For general inquiries, contact us at dss@umontana.edu or (406) 243-2243 to leave a voice message. You will be connected to Google Voice.

During our office's closure, we recommend sending us documents electronically. Please email documents at dss@umontana.edu or your DSS coordinator.

If faculty have general questions related to modifications for students with disabilities in their online courses, contact us at dss@umontana.edu. Our Electronic Information Technology Access Resources provides guidance for faculty to ensure accessibility in their online content.

What We Do

Disability Services for Students ensures that programs of the University of Montana are as accessible and usable by students with disabilities as they are for any student. We determine the student's eligibility for reasonable modifications and coordinate modifications for those who are registered with our office.

Who We Serve

Disability Services serves the University of Montana students with disabilities, who are registered with the office. We also collaborate with UM faculty, staff, departments, and other campus units to ensure that students with disabilities have equal and accessible educational opportunities at UM.

We use Accommodate

Once students register with Disability Services, they can utilize Accommodate, a web-based database and communication system, to access the letter of verification and their documentation, and much more.
