SPCHS Epidemiologist Wins Health Equity Research Award

Sarah Michels, MPH, an epidemiology specialist with the University of Montana’s Center for Population Health Research (CPHR), was recently awarded Yale University’s Office of Health Equity Research (OHER) Award for Research Excellence in 2022, for her paper, Evaluating vaccination coverage and timeliness in American Indian/Alaska Native and non-Hispanic White children using state immunization information system data, 2015-2017.  This research, which was conducted in partnership with All Nations Health Center and the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services’ Immunization Section, was published in the journal Preventive Medicine Reports.  Sarah started this research project during a 2021 summer fellowship while working on her master’s degree at Yale University, and she joined CPHR as a full-time staff researcher in 2022.  The announcement of the award is at the OHER website here.
