Students will move into the residence halls at their scheduled move-in time on August 19. In late June, students will receive an email at their UM student email account with directions to sign up for a move-in time and any additional information regarding move-in procedures.

If you are part of a special program arriving early, please see the information regarding those specific programs under the Special Programs section below. 

If you plan to arrive later than Monday, August 26, 2024, please contact the UM Housing Office so we can continue to hold your room for your arrival.

Special Programs - Freshmen Wilderness Experience, Flathead Lake Biological Station, Marching Band, Student Athletes, or International Students

• Freshmen Wilderness Experience: Those who are participating in either the river or backpacking trip for the FWE will check in on TBD. Students need to be signed up for FWE in order to be eligible for the early move-in dates. 
• FLBS Program: Those who are participating in the FLBS program will check in on August 15. Students need to be signed up with the Flathead Lake Biological Station program in order to be eligible for an FLBS check in date.
• Marching Band: Students who are part of the Grizzly Marching Band will check in TBD. Students will need to be approved by the Music department to be eligible for a check in date.
• Student Athletes: Student athletes needing to return to campus early will work with their coaches to plan arrival times.
• International Students: International students arriving early for international orientation will need to work with International Programs to set up your arrival time but are able to check in TBD. 

Please note that the residence halls officially open on Aug. 19, and until then, our staff is busy cleaning and preparing for your arrival. We are unable to accommodate early arrivals outside of the approved programs listed above. Contact our office in writing if extenuating circumstances require you to arrive early. Requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and any approved early arrival requests not affiliated with an approved program will be subjected to $100 nightly charge until Aug. 19.
