AN INTACT ECOSYSTEM

All of the Crown of the Continent’s native species that called this ecosystem home when Lewis & Clark passed through what would be Montana, are still present, which is true for only about a score of regions around the globe today. The Crown is home to about 65 species of mammals, 260 types of birds, and more than 1400 varieties of native plants. Of note, the bison in the Crown are no longer truly free-ranging, and the unique type of woodland caribou known as mountain caribou have become extremely rare.
