Estimated Expenses for I-20

To determine eligibility for the I-20, University of Montana requires evidence of sufficient funds to cover the costs of attendance for one academic year. Please refer to Financial Documents for the I-20 for guidance on acceptable documentation. The following numbers are based on estimated costs of attendance in US Dollars and are subject to change.

*Tuition & Fees for classes taken at the English Language Institute (ELI) and Missoula College are calculated differently. Please see Missoula College COA (Out of State)  and ELI Tuition and Fees for more information. 

**Living Expenses reflects the cost of living in the residence halls with a double occupancy dorm room and a Food Zoo plus meal plan. It does not include other indirect costs such as visa application and SEVIS fees, transportation, or incidentals.

Scholarships

UM offers a number of scholarships that are open to international student applicants pursuing full-time degree study at UM.

NON-RESIDENT STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

All undergraduate international students who are fully admitted to UM's bachelor's degree programs will be automatically considered for the University of Montana Academic Achievement Scholarship (UMAAS) as non-resident students. No additional application is required.

Post-Baccalaureate, Non-Degree and Graduate students are not eligible for this scholarship program. Students admitted with Conditional or Pathway status will be considered for the scholarship at the time of application. If found to be eligible for the scholarship, however, they will not be awarded the scholarship until the start of full-time undergraduate enrollment.

The Davidson Honors College Presidential Leadership Scholarship
The Presidential Leadership Scholarship is the University of Montana's premier academic scholarship, recognizing outstanding talent, academic performance, and contribution to the community. Freshmen who wish to apply for the Davidson Honors College Presidential Leadership Scholarship must complete the Davidson Honors College (DHC) Application form by December 1. Academic Department Scholarships
Many of UM's academic departments award scholarships to exceptionally talented students.  You are encouraged to contact the department of interest by January to find out more about the scholarships and application process or, when available look and apply for departmental scholarships online.  Learn more about UM Departmental Scholarships.
