UM BRIDGES hosts CSKT Water Compact Webinar

Flyer showing dates and panelists for workshop on March 29

On Monday March 29th from 4-5:30pm MDT, UM BRIDGES will host a panel discussion titled “What’s next for the CSKT Compact?” Over the past several years, the history of negotiation, water resources research, and political navigation behind the historic CSKT Water Compact and companion Federal water rights settlement has been a topic of great interest to BRIDGES students. Thus, we thought it would be a great topic to explore further this semester as a stand-in for our “lectures at the nexus.” Please join us next Monday as I moderate a panel of distinguished speakers to discuss the next phase of administration and implementation of the CSKT Water Compact and Water Rights Settlement Agreement after these agreements were fully authorized by the U.S. Congress and CSKT Tribal Council earlier in 2021. Panelists include: CSKT Tribal Council Chairwoman Shelly Fyant; CSKT Legal & Natural Resources Departments staff Craig Barfoot, Seth Makepeace, and Ryan Rusche; MT FWP Regional Fisheries Manager Pat Saffel; and MT DNRC Compact Implementation Hydrologist Ethan Mace.

If you are not familiar with the CSKT Compact, please view the MT DNRC ArcGIS story maps on Reserved Water Rights Compacts generally, and the CSKT Water Compact specifically.
